Imani Hakim brought me here…
Madonna sent me here
I just wanna cry, I just discovered this cover now. Beautyness.
Beyoncé homecoming brought me here
I came here to listen to the original version of the song sang by Jeff Buckley. With all due respect, but for me in the JB’s version has more space. Besides, the guitar version suits me better.
I've learned that love knows nothing of time. I've consumed my days with a woman who defies destiny. What better way to defy my own?
Truly one of the most devastating songs. Nina has a way of making a song truly beautiful and haunting at the same time
Ich habe diesen gewaltigen Song das 1. mal von Katie Melua gehört und war zu Tränen gerührt! Aber Nina..? Ihre Stimme ist pure EMOTION! Danke, Nina!!!!!!!
thank you beyoncé <3 #beychella
March 2018 ?
I lost myself on a cool damp nightI gave myself in that misty lightWas hypnotized by a strange delightUnder a lilac tree
I made wine from the lilac treePut my heart in its recipeIt makes me see what I want to seeAnd be what I want to be
When I think more than I want to thinkI do things I never should doI drink much more that I ought to drinkBecause it brings me back you
Lilac wine is sweet and heady, like my loveLilac wine, I feel unsteady, like my loveListen to me, I cannot see clearlyIsn't that she, coming to me nearly here?
Lilac wine is sweet and heady where's my love?Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, where's my love?Listen to me, why is everything so hazy?Isn't that he, or am I just going crazy, dear?
Lilac wine, I feel unready for my loveFeel unready for my love
My gosh that performance is deep.
Sorrow penance forgiveness
Bones brought me here, team sesh forever
Even Nick Cave himself said his favorite live performance was a Nina Simone show.
Emily Keener from The Voice made a beautiful rendition of Lilac Wine which Nina Simone would approve.
One of Nina's best. Piano adds the necessary drama and Nina's voice is filled with sincere pain. Great performance. I don't hear this in any of the female vocalists today.
Love this version also the version by Elkie Brooks amazing !!!
I love Nina Simone and Eartha Kitt – but I must say I prefer Simone's version overall.
For my money, the best and ultimate version of this song is Jeff Buckley's – hands down. He nails it. Young as he was, he was a very old soul. RIP.
It was nice to see Miley Cyrus give a try, as it shows she has either decent taste or listens to decent advice, but she doesn't yet have the substance – she's still too young to really pull it off convincingly. She doesn't fully understand the song and it shows.
Nice! Great arrangement
She was magnificent.
Absolutely beautiful and haunting song.
