Alcohol-related harms in the ER #AlcoholStories

Depending on the day of the week,
it’s very common. You probably would see an
alcohol-related injury almost every day. We would have the chronic use
and abuse categories where you have metabolic problems that lead to liver failure which can also lead to kidney failure
and multi organ failure. Second category would be…. your casual weekend drinkers
that decide to do some yard work. They might use a power tool, operate a bicycle or ride a horse and they fall because
their coordination’s impaired and this can also lead to
significant injuries. The effects go far beyond
just the immediate issue that we can fix
or stitch up or bandage. It happens far more frequently
than people realize. So, as a societal cost, it’s quite significant.
